East Village Sunset Petco Park Downtown San DiegoThe East Village is the largest neighborhood in downtown San Diego. The East Village of San Diego includes the ballpark district surrounding Petco Park, and the eastern portion of downtown bordered to the East and North by Interstate 5. The East Village is home to many of the newest highrise condo, and apartment developments in downtown San Diego. There is easy access to all the highways that go in and out of downtown including Highway 163, Highway 94 and Interstate 5. The East Village is also home to the main hub for the San Diego Trolley with access to the Green, Blue and Orange trolley lines. There are also many car sharing services available downtown like car2go, which has it’s local service center in the East Village and ride sharing services like Lyft and Uber have excellent coverage in Downtown San Diego.

The East Village is home to great dining options, whether it’s craft cocktails and gourmet tapas at Table No. 10, the newest fine dining spin on Mexican cuisine at Comun, Chinese cuisine at Dragon’s Den,  or Bowling and Dining at East Village Tavern and Bowl there is an abundance of dining options for every palate and budget.

One of the preferred places to live in the East Village is the ballpark district. This is the area immediately surrounding Petco Park.

The Harbor Ave Pedestrian bridge accessible where park ave meets the trolley tracks just Southwest of Petco Park. This provides direct bay pedestrian access from the East Village. The San Diego Bay provides many things to do, whether it is fitness and utilizing the convention center stairs, summer concerts on the embarcadero, ferry access to Coronado Island or shopping and dining at Seaport village, having direct bay pedestrian access is another benefit of living in the East Village. In addition to the restaurants and entertainment you can find in the east village, you are just a short walk from the Gaslamp District, where there is an abundance of food and entertainment.

There are several institutions located in the East Village including Thomas Jefferson School of Law, the City of San Diego Central Library which includes the new E3 Civic High School , San Diego City College is located on the North end of the East Village and of course it is home to the San Diego Padres. Other agencies located in the East Village include the San Diego Metropolitan Transit District, as well as the future headquarters for Sempra Energy.

Grocery Stores in the neighborhood include Albertsons, Smart and Final and Grocery Outlet. Other grocery stores nearby include Ralphs, Northgate Market and Costco.

Life in the city is a choice that many urban dwellers make. Whether it is downsizing for retirement, or active urban dwellers looking to maximize the resources and amenities in their lives, the East Village has something for everyone of all backgrounds.
